This Modelica library has been developed for the dynamic simulation of a motorcycle, and tailored to test and validation of active control systems for motorcycle dynamics.

This library has been already used in many projects, but only using the Dymola environment.

The MotorcycleDynamics library aims to simulate the behaviour of wheeled vehicles and their control systems. This library has been developed for the dynamic simulation of a motorcycle, and tailored to test and validation of active control systems for motorcycle dynamics.
A validation process has also been performed, comparing simulation results with experimental data from a properly instrumented KTM 950 Adventure motorcycle.
The library is made up of several sub-packages, containing models for:

  • the parts of motorcycle body (front/rear suspensions, chassis, rear swinging arm, wheels,...);
  • the tyre-road interaction (definition of contact forces balances and translation of point of contact);
  • the friction formulas (linear and Pacejka),
  • the roads (with different frictions maps and shapes);
  • the drivers (with one or two degree of freedom);
  • the controllers (ABS braking system, speed control,...)
  • the examples of how to use this library (i.e. panic brake experiment for ABS equipped and non ABS equipped motorycles, motorcycle following a specific trajectory,...)
