Guidelines for preparing, submitting and presenting papers for the Modelica Conference

Important Information for Speakers and Session Chairs

Program

The final program is now online.  You will find in which session hall MA1 - MA5 you will be presenting.

We ask all presenters to go to their session hall at least 30 minutes before the session starts, i.e. during the break preceding the presentation.  It is very important to test your presentation before the session starts. In all session halls you will find a host/hostess helping you out with technical issues.

Technical equipment in Session Halls

Computer with powerpoint, format 4:3 (1024x768). Make sure that your presentation works well with this resolution.
Headset

USB / laptop

Please bring a USB stick with your presentation in order to download it on the computer in the session hall. You may also bring your own laptop with your presentation in a correct format (powerpoint 4:3)

Preparation of full papers

Please use the following templates for the creation of full papers. There are availabe for MS Word and LaTex.

Please make sure that your submission has been created according to the Modelica Formatting Guidelines. You may use these guidelines also if you do not want to use one of the templates. You may compare the look of your paper also to this example page.

For the final submission, there will also be the possibility to submit Modelica example model files that correspond to your publication. These files will then be attached to your paper in the electronic proceedings.

Submissions process

Papers can be submitted via the EasyChair conference management system:

https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=modelica2014

There, you can also read your reviews and hand in the final paper after the reviewing process has taken place. In order to submit a paper, you need to have an EasyChair account. Simply follow the provided instructions to create an account. The same account can be used for several conferences over several years.

Once you have logged in, you can upload your contribution in the section: "New submissions". Simply follow the instructions.

The paper submission form includes the option to mark suitable topics for your paper. Please use this feature since it helps us to find suitable reviewers for your paper.

Final Paper Submission

Additionally to your paper, you have to submit also the following document(s):

  • A copyright agreement that gives the Modelica Association the non-exclusive right to publish your paper. Fill out this form, add the signature of the main author, scan it and attach the corresponding pdf-file to your submission. Use the file name "copyrightLicense.pdf".

The Easychair management system currently only allows to submit one additional file besides your paper. In case that you are submitting other material, for example a library or examples, add the copyright agreement and all other material in one zip-file and submit this zip-file as "attachment".

In case you have any problems, send an email to modelica2014@modelica.org.

Posters

The poster boards are 75 cm wide and 180 cm high. The complete height may be used. A poster in A1 format fits in portrait, but not in landscape orientation. Please bring your printed posters to the conference.

Preparation of one-page-abstracts

Authors of regular papers and poster papers, as well as organizations presenting their tool in the tool presentation sessions, are all required to submit a one-page-abstract of their presentation as PDF file.

Here are the corresponding templates:

Please include the abstract as attachement to your final submission (as described above)

Guidelines for presentations

Oral presentations of regular papers are allocated 20-minutes slots in the programme, up to 15 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for discussion. Computers with PowerPoint and Acrobat Reader will be available in the session rooms, you might also use your own laptop. We suggest you to keep a PDF version of your presentation at hand on a memory stick, so you have a back-up option in case there are problems with national versions of PowerPoint and/or with the video output of your laptop.

Poster presentations will take place on Wednesday. The room for poster sessions will be available from Monday afternoon for authors to display their posters. Vertical wooden panels will be available with a useful area of 75 cm width and 180 cm height, you might choose any poster size that fits this area.

The program is to be found on the link below.  You will find in which session hall MA1 - MA5 you will be presenting.
